A
long time civic and non-profit organization volunteer, Greg was first
elected to the Delaware House of Representatives, 11th District, in
2000 and re-elected in 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2008.
He currently serves on the following committess:
- Economic Development, Banking, Insurance and Commerce
- Housing and Community Affairs
- Revenue and Finance
- Manufactured Housing
Since entering office, Greg has authored or co-sponsored a host of
bills ranging from a new law cracking down on industrial polluters to
addressing long term water supply issues in Northern New Castle County
to another that encourages young people to become more politically active.
In addition to his legislative responsibilities, Greg has continued
his focus on constituent service by attending community meetings and
responding directly to calls and other contacts.
Greg has been with Puglisi & Associates in Newark, Delaware since
1987 where he currently serves as a Managing Director. A graduate of
the University of Pennsylvania (Master of Governmental Administration,
Fels Center of Government) and the University of Delaware (Finance and
Economics), Greg also has his Certified Cash Manager designation from
the Treasury Management Association. His major responsibilities at Puglisi & Associates
are investment management and accounting services for a group of the
firm's clients.
Greg currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Delaware Council
on Economic Education and served on the Board of Directors of Girls
Incorporated of Delaware for seven years, including terms as Secretary,
Vice President and President. He also served on the board of Westside
Health for four years and has been actively involved over the years
with a number of other civic associations and organizations.
“One of the things I really wanted to stress as a state representative
was accessibility," Lavelle said. Of the 62 legislators in the
General Assembly, Rep. Lavelle is one of less than a dozen that holds
regular coffee meetings. "I like the idea of being able to offer
a constituent a cup of coffee and giving them a chance to tell me about
whatever is on their minds. That’s kind of a throwback to the
way government was once conducted in this country and has become all
too rare today. I'm glad I have the chance to keep that tradition of
personal service alive in Delaware."
Greg and his wife Ruth have two children and reside in Sharpley.
