Financial and legislative commitment continues regarding the Delaware Compensation Commission reform.

Back in February, I announced that I would be donating 10% of my FY2009 and FY2010 salary to area charities.  This builds on a commitment I made in 2005 to donate my pay raise that year ($2,250.00) to highlight and call for reform of the Delaware Compensation Commission and was an effort to recognize the budgetary challenges we were (and are) facing.

I have continued on with both the financial and legislative commitment since 2005.  I have introduced legislation on numerous occasions that had previously passed the House only to be not acted upon in the Senate.  The current legislation (HB55) rests -- and is well rested at this point – in the House.

Having previously announced my contributions for FY2009 in June 2008, I am pleased to build on that commitment as well as make my FY 2010 contributions.  The organizations I have selected this year do so much for our community across the range of needs.  They are as follows:

  • B+ Foundation
  • Claymont Community Center
  • Claymont Historical Society (In memory of Dan Harkins)
  • Claymont Stone School (In memory of Dan Harkins)
  • Concord Soccer Association
  • Parent Information Center of Delaware
  • Ronald McDonald House of Delaware
  • The Sunday Breakfast Mission

Other press releases exist on my website that go into greater detail about the issue of the Delaware Compensation Commission.  I’d welcome other suggestions as I’ll be the first to acknowledge that there may well be another way to skin this cat.
